MATS Bootcamp March assignment: Jelly Fabric

Jelly is the theme. Fabric is the product. In March's MATS Bootcamp, the big assignment is to design a jelly-themed fabric.

I plan to arrange my icons into a tossed print pattern so that the fabric can be rotated in any direction. It will certainly be more fun and carefree, and the fabric can be cut in any direction to minimize waste. I am still scratching my head as to how to layout my icons of jelly and his little friends such as ice-creams, cream, dessert spoons, cats and dogs ... etc. After all, it is gonna be a Happy Jelly Party.

Meanwhile, I just play around my icons (their placement and colours). I plan to design a tossed pattern for submission but just make up a trial piece now to see how it will look like if it is a one-way block repeat. Hey, not bad!

Common Courtesy Day

21 March is Common Courtesy Day (http://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/common-courtesy-day/).

"Politeness and consideration for others abound on Common Courtesy Day. Say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’, hold doors open for others, and consider the feelings and perceptions of those around you throughout the day."

In fact, everyday should be Common Courtesy Day.

A smile is the prettiest thing you can wear

Every morning, how much time you do need to spend to find the most suitable outfit for the day?  In fact, a smile is the prettiest thing you can wear.

This weekend CLOSED

Completely forgot to put this up yesterday!

Yesterday, I had a great get-together with friends with whom I have not seen for quite some time.  We have known each other since 2006, i.e. 8 years ago.  Time flies, and our friendship grows.

Today, I had a super warm family dinner with my mom, my aunt and uncle from Auckland, their kids, and the kids of their kids.  A lovely and noisy evening.

This weekend ... CLOSED!

Mardi Gras

Do you now today is Mardi Gras ("Fat Tuesday" or Carnival Season in English)?  Popular practices include wearing masks and costumes, overturning social conventions, dancing, sports competitions, parades, etc. Carnival is an important celebration in Anglican and Catholic European nations. Pancakes and related fried breads or pastries made with sugar, fat and eggs are traditionally consumed.

MATS Bootcamp March Mini: Jell-O Molds

Received the MATS Bootcamp Mini for March yesterday.

Jell-O Molds! What is it?

No idea yet what to sketch. Just made a little doodle, somewhat irrelevant but fun! I remember Lilla Rogers mentioned that it is important to HAVE FUN! People buy your joy!

Yes, I am having fun ... all the time, when I hold my pens/pencils/brushes or the mouse to make art.

Make Art That Sells.  Yeah!

Testing new blue fineliners

I am thinking of using one single blue colour (struggled between "blue" and "sepia") to develop one series of stories, but I do not have any blue fineliners. So, I get each of 0.1, 0.3, 0.5 and 0.8 today. Just test them. Look nice.

Eye-opening at Asia Hotel Art Fair Hong Kong 2014

Today, I visited the Asia Hotel Art Fair (AHAF) at Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotel. The event covers two floors, 7/F and 8/F. I cannot believe it that I could have only visited one floor (7/F)! There were just too many good artwork. I moved in snail speed, I know.
