#InkTOBER Day 19: Arm

#InkTOBER Day 19: Arm.

After some training, you can also have a strong arm!

#InkTOBER Day 18: Caterpillars

#InkTOBER Day 18: Caterpillars.

There seems to have zero relationship between "Cat", "... er ..." and "Pillars".  But you tie them together, amazing they have transformed into "Caterpillars".  Isn't it awesome?

#InkTOBER Day 17: Pillars

#InkTOBER Day 17: Pillars.

Not only in Rome or Athen, there are in many places many pillars.  They are tall or high, usually you cannot walk on or over them.  But here, yes, you can jump from one to the other to have fun.

#InkTOBER Day 16: ... er ...

#InkTOBER Day 16: ... er ...

Sometimes, when you do not what to say, you just produce some noise.  " ... er ... er ... er ... " simply to let people know that you are still with them in a conversation, awake.

#InkTOBER Day 15: Cat

#InkTOBER DAy 15: Cat.

A cat can be not a lovely little kitty.  It can be cunning and naughty.  Like this one!  But it's fine, even little fishes love to play with him.

#InkTOBER Day 14: Rainbow

#InkTOBER Day 14: Rainbow.

Few days ago, I drew Rain, and then Bow.  On Day 14, it is a combination of both - Tada! "Rainbow".  Can you see or feel the colours?

#InkTOBER Day13: Skipped

#InkTOBER Day 13: Skipped, because mom was hospitalized.

My mom collapsed at the kitchen.  Fortunately I was there.  Luckily she fell fainted onto the floor where there was no obstacles.  But I heard her head hitting the floor.  Mom passed out completely without consicousness for about a minute.  Did not know where came the courage, I stayed calm.  I called 999 for an ambulance, which arrived with the police swiftly.  Mom regained her consciousness just before the medical personnel were there.  She was then sent and admitted to United Hospital for exam and observation.

#InkTOBER Day 12: Bow

#InkTOBER Day 12: Bow.

Have you ever worn a bow tie ... that big?  Cute or ugly?  Well, just don't pick a pattern to close to that little snail laughing at you!  Haha~!

#InkTOBER Day 11: Rain

#InkTOBER Day 11: Rain.

Do you like rain?  I don't.  But sometimes, you need it.  When it is too hot, when it is too dry, you will love rain.

You do not necessarily need an umbrella though ... let the raind drop on to your face, feel it and enjoy.

#InkTOBER Day 10: Ups & Downs

#InkTOBER Day 10: Ups & Downs.

Life is full of ups and downs.  Keep up the good moments, and embrace bravely the bad ones.  Tomorrow is another day.

#InkTOBER Day 9: Down! Down! Down!

#InkTOBER Day 9: Down! Down! Down!

Yesterday the umbrellas brought you high up to the sky.  Today, you come down with the parachutes.  Safe.

#InkTOBER Day 8: Up! Up! Up!

#InkTOBER Day 8: Up! Up! Up.

Guess what will be tomorrow?  Heehee ...

#InkTOBER Day 7: Carpet

#InkTOBER Day 7: After "Car" and "Pet", today is "Carpet"!  Hahaha!  I know I am nuts :-)

#InkTOBER Day 5: Happy Birthday, Elizabeth!

#InkTOBER Day 5: Happy Birthday, Elizabeth!

Elizabeth Rose Stanton is the author/illustrator of Henny whom I admire a lot.  I got to know her through Facebook, and she kindy accepted my friend request and we have become friends.  I am thrilled to have Elizabeth as my friend.

Today is her birthday.  I wish to dedicate my Day 5's partcipation to #InkTOBER to wish her a wonderful birthday.

You see, I try to disguise myself as Henny but I am not even half close!  :-)

#InkTOBER Day 2: Love Hong Kong

#InkTOBER Day 2: Love Hong Kong.

I do not like politics.  I have no interest in politics.  No matter what, politics exists.  Hong Kong is my home place.  I just want to live here calmly.  Just want PEACE and LOVE.

#InkTOBER has begun!

#Inktober has begun! I will do my best to meet this challenge of posting 31 ink drawings throughout the month of October, one every day. (I must make it! I have "vanished" from making art for toooooo long).

Top 10 Favorite Books

Wow, I have not updated my blog for ages!  Too tired everyday after returning home from my day job.

Yesterday, I have received (so honored) an invitation from my dear MATS buddy Antoana Oreški-Džafić to participate to a book nomination project. The participants should name 10 of their very favorite books and ask 10 other friends to make their list.

I am a bookworm, so this is not a big problem :-)

When you look at my list, please just don't laugh.  From the list, you can have a glimpse of how my world is like recently.  I am so obssessed by almost anything related to making art for children.

Here you go, my Top 10 Favorite Books (not in specific order):

Maple - by Lori Nichols

Histoires inédites du Petit Nicolas - by Goscinny & Sempé

The Art of Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea - by Hayao Miyazaki, Studio Gibli

Brush with Acrylics Painting the easy way - by Terry Harrison

Digital Painting For The Complete Beginner - by Carlyn Beccia

The Terrible Thing That Happened to Barnaby Brocket

The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating - by Elisabeth Tova Bailey

May I nominate / invite the following 10 lovely people whom I admire so much (again, not in any specific order) to share their Top 10 Favorite Books?

Debbie Ridpath Ohi, Flora Chang, Mette Engell, Estelle DeRidder, Lori Nichols, Irene Chan, Leonard S. Marcus, Steve Simpson, Amandine Piu and Elizabeth Rose Stanton

MATS Bootcamp July Assignment: My Favorite Beverage ... Submitted!

At last, I have completed and uploaded my July Bootcamp Assignment.

This month, being the last month of the Bootcamp, differs from all other previous months.  This month's theme is My Favorite Beverage.  This time, we are not allowed to post and share our WIP artwork in our Facebook group chatroom as we did in the past few months.  This is sooooo hard!  We have been so used to sharing, inviting comments, making changes ... etc.  We enjoyed this process so much.  It appeared as if we are working hard together in the same classroom but the fact is we are all thousands of miles away, on different parts of the planet, in different time zones.

My Favorite Beverage ... I scratched my head.  I truly do not have any favorite beverage.  I mostly drink water, but it is not my favorite.  I drink coffee, juice ... too, but I cannot define any of them as favorite.  Thé au lait in Hong Kong style, maybe.

Okay, by now we should have all submitted our assignments.  But the Gallery will be up only on Tuesday 22 July.  Two more days!  These two days are the longest in the century to wait.

I can't help showing a sneak peek of what I did.  Hope Lilla and Beth will not take me off!

New Job. Day One. Feel Good.

Started a new job on 2 July.  Day One.  Feel good.

Still alive!

30 June - Exhausted but still alive!

Exhausted!

Exhausted! Spent much energy in the last week of June in packing, moving, move-back, unpacking due to the need to replace all windows in the apartment as a result of failing the mandatory window exam for all buildings over 10 years old. The one I live in is over 30 years ...

MATS Bootcamp June Assignment: Wall Art with a Nautical theme

Wall art ... AGAIN~!

I have not yet found a proper approach to handle wall art.  Fortunately, this time, it is not necessary to make any collage (I truly need a lot of effort to put and paste together the various papers, textures, objects, etc.).

I have not spared much time in the Mini (except the quick doodle), therefore, I do not have icons to assemble to make the final piece.

The very original idea was to make "A ship in a bottle".  I was thinking to put a secret message / paper in a bottle, but then, when I saw my fellow Bootcampers are creating whales, jellyfishes, sailors, etc., I have decided to join them to have fun.

I do not want to set my scene up deep down in the ocean.  I think it will be romantic to put a couple (of cats) in a ship (in fact, it is only a wooden boat) under a clear, beautiful blue night sky.  Stars shine from over the top, the big moon as the backdrop.  It is a hot night in the mid-summer.  The night was originally quiet, but hey it is summer, it should be fun!  Fishes, jelly fishes, crabs, shrimps, and whales all come out to party!  I particularly love the jelly fishes' synchronized swimming :-) Even though it is mid-summer, it is COOL!  So, I have decided the title to be "Keep Cool in a Hot mid-Summer's Night".  Stay cool, however excited you are!

The very first quick doodle.
